Casa Green - Terrariums

I received a couple of questions regarding this image of designer Thom Filicia. Are you familiar with terrariums?

Terrariums come in different shapes, sizes, and styles. They are so elegant and own a timeless beauty.

I love organic shaped containers for terrariums.

And I love easy-to-do,  Martha Stewart terrariums.

Especially when they are such a fun project to do with kids.

Light bulbs are also another great alternative.

Closed terrariums are a great choice for tropical plants.

If  you choose a desert theme for your terrarium, you need your container to be open.

Posibilities are endless.

I'm especially intrigued by air plants.

A few important notes if you're considering growing a terrarium:
You'll need:

A layer of gravel.
A layer of charcoal.
Potting mix.

Mist the soil before covering.

Terrariums need light, so a place close to a window is an excellent place for it. Don't put it under direct light.

If you'd like to do a single plant terrarium, do it easy with a container. Be sure to arrange 1 inch of pebbles in the base. Use a ceramic pot for your plant (not a plastic one). Mist the soil with water before you cover it. Piece of cake!

Are you tempted by terrariums? I am!

Great Home Trends for Spring - Part III

{This is part 3 of the Great Home Trends for Spring series. Be sure to check part I and part II!}

Trend 3. Coral Beach

A great color to try this spring is coral red. It's fresh, vibrant, and modern. Plus, it can easily be adapted to most spaces. Being such a bright color, a few splashes here and there are enough to make a statement.

These coral chair cushions are all it takes to brighten up this space.

Cute and simple benches. Wow.

Coral is a great choice for young spaces.
Use accesories to fill the room with hints of it.

And once again, here are my finds for you:

How cute are these anthropology sheets?

Pottery Barn has an extensive line of coral accesories, hence the collage. ;)

{Zara Home, love it!}

Coral seems like a perfect Spring / Summer color for any room. Bright and shinny all-over.

Great Home Trends for Spring - Part II

{This is part 2 of the Great Home Trends for Spring series. If you'd like to check part 1, click here!}

Spring is here! In these series, we're talking about inspiring home trends for this beautiful season. Our next trend is as cool as can be.

2. Turquoise and White

You know you can't go wrong with The Color of The Year (aka Turquoise) and an all-time favorite, such as white. This combo is a design blast, just check these images. For an easy makeover, try painting just a stripe around the room instead of the whole wall (or room). Then play around with various elements around the place, such as the pillows.

Here's another inspiring picture. This room looks so clean and classic, yet contemporary. I love the pattern on the wall. You could recreate that look with wallpaper or stencil painting.

Turquoise and navy blue seem like a hit to me. Very coastal and soothing. The map wall is so ingenious and the pillows are gorgeous. The chair? Stunning.

Of course I preselected perfect items for this look:

Patchwork prints via Polyvore

Target turquoise dinnerware
Decorative birdcages via Polyvore
Ikea's Spöka night light

Walmart turquoise pillow
(isn't it cute?)

Zara Home's tealight trista

Zara Home's turquoise wine cup

I'm telling you, I can't get enough of this color. It's so fresh and soothing and modern! I really love it.

What about you? Which one is your favorite so far? Of course, one could try and mix both trends into one. Imagine white and turquoise flowers here and there? Fabulous!

If you'd like to read trend number 1, here ya' go!

See you tomorrow!
