Houses - Beautiful Loft in Brazil

I'm loving this industrial loft in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It's so sleek, and elegant. The furniture and styling is superb. I adore the coffee table and the round flower pot. And what do you have to say of that yellow console? So gorgeous!

This post is dedicated to my male readers. I've got the slightest feeling this home of excellent taste may be owned by a man. And it is amazing.

Sorry for being away so many days, but I'm in the middle of a life reorganisation. I have tons of projects on my list, and little time. When I finally get the chance, I really don't know where to start. At least I'm moving forward (I like to think). Little by little.

Hiding the TV

I'm loving this shelving TV unit featured in the latest issue of Elle Decor. It's simple, sleek, and modern. Such an excellent idea and pretty simple to adapt it to any room, I believe. I'm thinking our master bedroom --once we buy our TV, of course (tiny, little detail, of course).  

There's a whole debate over having TV in bedrooms, but then apparently there's also another one going on about whether or not hiding your TV.

What's your thought? Do you like hiding TVs, or not? Do tell!

 

On the spotlight - Menamobel

I'm always in the mood for great design, so I'm thrilled to share with you my latest discovery.  Menamobel is a furniture store in Spain, offering modern solutions to everyday issues in small spaces. Could I ask for more? I don't think so!

This would be a cute thing to add to any corner at home.

 But you'll fall in love when you learn it's meant to store shoes.

This is a larger, red version.

I really love it, because mirrors are always cool for opening up small spaces, but it can also store 18 pairs of shoes. That's something to die for!

I'm also digging its living room and dining room options.

Hydra coffee table is simple, sleek, trendy.

Open it up to keep away clutter. Superb!

It grows to adapt for more guests... I need one right now!

(By the way, I could also use that lovely chandelier.)

Unfinished business

Four months ago, and without thinking about it (evidence here) I dared to buy 10 yards of this fabric:

I didn't mention what it was all about, because I meant to give you a surprise... My surprise was it's been 4 months and I still don't finish my project (what was I thinking!?)

Anyway, I'm not completely guilty, you know it. I got caught in the emotion of DIYing, decorating my house, and doing my everyday stuff (aka job, daughter, house chores, you name it). Reality is, I need much more time to get my projects done than I would like to... but I get them done. Which means, if I can, you can! Our homes don't become heaven from night to day, we need to take tiny little steps to get there.

 Well, suspense is over for you! I've decided to spill the beans. This is what I've especially been doing this week (drums, please!):

I bought the fabric so I could make myself slipcovers for my couches in the TV room. As I said, I'm still not done here (I'm finishing the first one out of TWO!), but this week I really put time and effort into it, and it finally shows! I feel sooo happy. And how could I not want to share the thrill with you?

Of course, this couldn't have been possible without the help of my mom. She's teaching me how to use her machine.

So, eventhough I'm still a little far away from the end, I'm happy.

Promise to share the tutorial with you soon (that is, in another 4 months. Just kidding!)

Which Is Your Color?

The other day, while surfing the web, I stumbled upon Colorstrology, via Pantone.

Besides being a beautiful web page, (full of color inpiration), it's a fun site where you can find what your birthday color is. According to it, this color can tell a little (or lot!) about your personality. Think about horoscope meets rainbow kind of thing.

Anyhow, I was completely interested, and this is what turned out:

Diligent, attractive, responsible... hmmmm, gotta say I'm liking this Colorstrology thing!

Ok. Serious time now. What stroke me the most is that my color (Dusky Orchid -pantone 17-1610) is exactly the same color I chose before we moved in for our TV room AND Master Bedroom. Now that's a coincidence!

Eye Candy & Exciting News

Hi there! I've been working on my tutorial for Reader's Tutorial Week at Craftaholics Anonymous. Next week is going to be a fabulous week, with amazing projects. I'm so excited to be part of it all!!!

The So Called Foyer

Remember the first room into our house, back in the house tour?

It's supposed to be a foyer of some kind, a little room for us to receive guests into our home. Mmmhhh. We're thinking: do we really need this? ¿Would it be useful?

We didn't quite think so. Our house doesn't even have enough rooms (and all of them are small). We do need a family/tv room, since we don't want a tv in any of our bedrooms (at least not our first tv), nor the living/ dining room.

So once we were settled, and bought the tv, we started making some little changes: we painted one of the walls with a rosy kind of brown. I wasn't sure about the color at the store, especially with so many interesting options, but I absolutely looooved the final result. Then we used a couple of sofas my brother and sister gave us (they're a bit overused and they actually don't fit right in the area, but I have plans for them while we're able to buy new ones). With those changes, the space became this:

We also used a couple of cube drawers we had from my daughter's former nursery for the TV.

That's how it looked until we had enough of it. Of course anything was better than nothing, but it looked very jammed! And the TV seemed to be falling down, all to one side!

Then a week ago we remembered we had an old coffee table waiting to be used. This seemed the perfect spot.

Voilá. A new TV stand in a matter of minutes (of dealing with wires and stuff):

Our current family/tv room is a work in progress, I know it's far from what I'm dreaming it to be, but it has come a long way from where it started from! Best of all we didn't spend much on it (except for the paint).
