Brand Spotlight - Rococo Furniture

While surfing the web searching for information for one of my current projects, I bumped into Rococo, a Mexican firm making the most amazing and gorgeous furniture revamp. Most of their furniture is Louis XV or XVI style, but they are restored using their own line of fabrics (with Mexican designs) or painted by local artisans and visual artists. The result: great pieces of furniture with character and lots of style.
Wish I could take my hands on one of them and paint it myself.
Really love them.

Designers - Oki Sato and His Invisible Chair

Picture yourself sitting on thin air. Resting while you float.
It's all possible with the transparent chair.

It's made with polyurethane film, commonly used as a packing material for precision instruments, thanks to its high elasticity and ability to return to its original state.
It softly wraps and supports the body, pretty much like a hammock does.

The amazing chair was designed by Oki Sato y made by his company, Nendo.
I love its simple lines and structure.

Also, from Nendo, I found another quite interesting chair.
Not invisible, but it seems to disappear.

Meet the fadeout chair.
I think it's pretty. And oh so lovely.

The chair's back and seat are wooden, and the acrylic legs are painted so that the wood grain appears to fade away.

Amazing.

Brand Spotlight - Casa Midy

I can't believe I didn't know about Casa Midy before. I just spent hours checking out their catalogue.

Casa Midy was established in San Miguel Allende, founded by French Anne-Marie Midy and Mexican Jorge Almada. Casa Midy mixes a contemporary design with the traditional artisan methods of manufacturing, which make their designs totally mouth-watering to me.

This is an excellent option for your house and garden, so I recommend you to visit their page. It's got all their newest designs, and trust me their good!

As for me, I'd LOVE to have one of those tables in my living room... and definitely a lantern in my patio. I hope to get them soon!

Acapulco Chair

Straight from Mexico, meet the Acapulco Chair.

From unknown designer in the hip 60's, this chair is made of iron and is knit in an old Mayan fashion, similar to a technique used when knitting hammocks. The Acapulco chair is gaining popularity everyday thanks to it's spectacular design of simple lines and retro style. It has even been successfully presented in New York and Copenhagen.

I love it, as I love the memories it evokes from my childhood. :)

On the spotlight - Menamobel

I'm always in the mood for great design, so I'm thrilled to share with you my latest discovery.  Menamobel is a furniture store in Spain, offering modern solutions to everyday issues in small spaces. Could I ask for more? I don't think so!

A few of the items on their newest catalog:

This would be a cute thing to add to any corner at home.

But you'll fall in love when you learn it's meant to store shoes.

This is a larger, red version.

I really love it, because mirrors are always cool for opening up small spaces, but it can also store 18 pairs of shoes. That's something to die for!

I'm also digging its living room and dining room options.

Hydra coffee table is simple, sleek, trendy.

Open it up to keep away clutter. Superb!

There's a dining room version of the Hydra table, of course.

It grows to adapt for more guests... I need one right now!
(By the way, I could also use that lovely chandelier.)

Then of course, there are options for all kinds of spaces.

Which is your favorite?
By the way, Menamobel is just about to launch its newest website, with more incredible furniture, a wonderful on-line store, and the catalog, so stay tuned.

I'll keep you posted ;)
