We Moved!

It's been such a long time since I had written in blogger. Sorry for leaving this blog behind, but I have been very busy moving to wordpress and working in my new and improved blog layout.

I decided to combine my Spanish and English versions in the same blog, since it was a lot of work keeping up with both. So, if you want to read my latest post and adventures, be sure to follow me in the new and improved Casa Haus. I'm writing in both English and Spanish, and there's also a Translate button in the top right end of the menu, just in case there's anything you don't understand. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Our Anniversary Getaway

A few days before our wedding anniversary, we checked our options for a weekend getaway. Of course, there were lots of beautiful places to go, but as usual, we had our "money-and-time" limit. San Miguel Allende was a big favorite, as you may recall from my  Casa de Sierra Nevada post (gorgeous hotel!). Very tempting indeed, but we made up our minds and chose Tapalpa, since it's closer to  Guadalajara (we didn't want to spend our weekend driving around).

Friday afternoon: we head to Tapalpa. Our hotel, El Remanso, was Joaquin's discovery.

What can I say? This getaway was more like my second honey moon. I got crazy with the views and my camera (there are over 250 pics as evidence). Since there are soooo many pretty pictures, I'll keep my words to a minimum, and let the images do what they do best: inspire us! ;)

Drumroll please.

We're welcomed by a beautiful brick wall. The yellow in the window is the hotel's very signature. Lots of details are painted this yellow.

This is the lobby, and it pretty much shows the architecture and style around El Remanso. Rustic and modern at the same time.

I fell in love with our room the moment I saw it. The floor is concrete, which is a very modern trend these days. You can see the hammock and balcony (with the beautiful view).

I love the little onix window over the beds. As soon as the sun rose, it lit up, just like a lamp.

This is the bathroom wall, one of my favorite details around the room. Once again, the wall covering is concrete, with wooden circles that look great but also help to clear the area.

The dock was one of our favorite places to spend time. Surrounding beauty was amazing. There's that yellow again.

How could I not like to spend our time right there?

By the way, El Remanso is 4 miles from Tapalpa, right by El Nogal lake. A mere 2 hour drive from Guadalajara.

It was two years ago...

We've been celebrating this past week, for it was our second year anniversary. It's been two fun, happy, and loving years. (Hey, what can I say? I'm madly in love). Amazingly enough, I must confess it was just this week we printed our wedding pictures. So, of course, as any good blogger would do, I thought I'd share them with you.

{By the way, I've been meaning to share with you somethings relative to our celebration. I'm working on that, but I kindly ask for your patience. Sometimes my job doesn't allow me to work on my true passion: blogging. ;) }

Three Birthdays in Two Days

The good thing about having three birthdays in two days is you get to party ALL WEEK LONG (or even longer).

In the last two days, we had some of the following:

A de.li.cious chocolate cake. So yummy I could have it all over again.

Another yummy recipe: my husband's famous pasta with mushroom and cheese sauce.

Mouth-watering.

And a few surprising gifts!

Now that our family has grown in size and age, we're thrilled to continue with the celebrations the rest of the week. Gotta party! (There are no more birthdays for us the rest of the year!)

Happy New Year, friends!!!

I'm so excited to be starting off a new year. 2010.

Amazing, huh?

I hope y'all had a wonderful time last night, and wish you the best in 2010.

I'm starting this new year by doing a tiny little recap on last year, for those new to Casa Haus or those who would like to walk with me down Memory Lane.

2009 was an excellent year for us. We had just gotten married in August 2008, so 2009 meant settling down and arranging our little house to make it feel like home. As I started looking through the internet for inspiration, I bumped into the bloggosphere, and man, did that change me (for good, I hope). I suddenly realized I wasn't the only crazy woman thinking about her home and her decoration 24/7. That felt amazing!!!! I actually got to know more people like me, and so I let my obsession loose. House-aholic. Design-aholic. Yay!

However, that wasn't enough, so in early November I decided to start my own blog, the good ol' little Casa Haus. A place meant for you to find good design, inspiration, home decor, and a journal for my adventures making our house our home while doing everything else (you know, work, exercise, housekeeping, kid, you name it). I couln't have started off in a busier time of year, so blogging, my friends, has become one truly wonderful journey.

So, best of 2009.

Since I started blogging in November, my projects so far have revolved around the holidays. I begun by introducing you to our Halloween home.

Those decorations were so fun and easy to make. We loved them!

I showed you the beautiful twirly scarves I had made for the chilly weather. And of course, I posted on the lovely heart too.

Then Christmas time came fast.

I made a pine cone wreath, and got really excited when Centsational Girl featured it.

I made easy snowflake ornaments for our tree.

And a bunch of other last minute decorations.

In the end, our Christmas House looked cute!

And of course, there was time for easy and yummy recipes, too.

The tasty hot punch (in a cappuccino cup).

And the refreshing red wine punch.

And of course, there was time to feature some great interior design inspirations and eye candy.

What an excellent year!

Before we move ahead

This is us.

We make a wonderful team.

This man here makes my dreams come true. Actually, he is my dream come true. I could have never found a better person for me.

We've been married for over a year (same time we moved to this house, our very first house). It's been such a year! We've been basically getting organized with everything: time, household chores, jobs, money, among others (you know it). AND we've been trying to make it all work for our lovely eight-year-old daughter. Our goal list is long, and we love to be together making it happen, one at a time.

After getting settled, I started looking for inspiration to take our little house and tranform it into our refuge. And, as I've said before, you won't believe the tons of inspiration out there (or out here, should I say?). Internet and the bloggosphere have been huge for me. I've got my head filled with ideas, and I've met wonderful people, house-obsessed like me! I really don't know which is better.

Having a blank canvas for a house is, I believe, a great start, and I want to share the whole transformation process with you. Though, I must warn you, this process may take a while (remember time and money are issues here), I promise to make it fun. I also want to share and catalog my finds and inspiration, as well as my daily thoughts and ideas. A journal of some sort, if you wish.
