Stylish and Happy Doll House

I've always liked doll houses. In fact, I firmly believe my design addiction grew on me since I was a little girl, all because of doll houses. I had one, I still secretly keep the tiny furniture. Even now in my early thirties with a girl who's begining to leave toys behind, I still feel an irresistible attraction towards doll houses. I want them all. And making my own doll house is even more appealing to me, because it involves everything I like: houses, interior design, tiny things, DIYing, crafting, you name it!

So I guess you'll know by now my amazing surprise with the lovely house Megan from mouse house made for her girls.

Ain't it a beauty? She's fun, happy, and full of details! She's got it all, especially tiny towels, frames, art, a craft room, all made by the amazing  Megan.
It gets me thinking I should make a doll house too. Although I guess I should finish doing my real home before I make a doll one, right? =)

DIY- The Perfect Lamp for Kids

Looking for a simple yet amazing DIY for the weekend? I found it at matsutake, with her gorgeous stuffed animal lamp. It's perfect for any kid's room for your kids or as a present. Just take any animal made of fabric, coat it with a fabric stiffener, pull out all stuffing, and stuff the light string inside (be sure to use LED lights only if you don't want safety issues- and of course we don't, do we?)

Easy-peasy. And delightful.

Inspiration- White and Turquoise

One of my many projects in my ever-growing list is my daughter's room. Believe it or not, I catch myself daydreaming about it, in spite of my endless kitchen reno and my job chores, and planning out the room of this little soon-to-be teen.

One of the things she's got clear about it is she wants the gorgeous turquoise/white combo (one of my favorites!). For starteres, we need to find a good quilt for her bed, and then we'll build from it. She's in love with all the options from PBteen, but since that's to far away from us, we're having a hard time finding something similar here. Wish me luck on that!
So, anyway, I found these lovely and totally inspiring images at A Creative Mint (can't believe I hadn't seen that blog!) and immediately thought of my client at home. Can't wait to see what she thinks about them!

Happy Summer y'all!

Eclectic, Modern Home in Paris

This house, home of Virginie and Frédéric (decor stylist and stage designer) is a great example of modern meets vintage, with many accesories and furniture being recovered. The result is a very original and quite unexpected home, with a color palette of grays and lillacs I absolutely adore. Plus, there are several interesting details I know many of you will love.

I really like all of it, but if I had to choose, my favorites spaces would be the living room and the bathroom. I can't get over those silver and purple tones. Another thing I love is the use of bold art on the walls. How do you like it?

Cool Art for Childrens' Rooms

I recently discovered Flavia, a Mexican ilustrator.

I am so in love with her work.
It's got the quality of making you dream and imagine stories.

Starts up your mind,
as any good ilustration does.

I really heart them.
And, I can picture them in a kid's room.

In fact, Flavia also designs wall decals.

If your interested, check out her blog.

There's really cool stuff.
Speaking of kids' rooms, I started 2011 cleaning and organizing my daughter's room. We were there together, all morning, doing her closet, drawers... just about everything. In the end, it was worth it, and we rented a movie to watch later that afternoon. A great treat for a great job! And such an excellent way to start this year.

I've got many plans for my home this 2011, but I have to concentrate on organizing first. Of course, I'll keep you posted. I know for sure there'll be tons of monsters creeping out of everywhere, but at least I'm done with one room!

I Want This House!

Howdy! How was your weekend?
Ours was completely crazy with the First Communion, but it was well worth it. I promise to share pics as soon as I get them in my computer!  :)
In the meantime, would you like to check out my newest discovery?

It's modern, sleek, and oh so chic... wanna know what's shocking?
It's a dollhouse!
Unbelievable, huh?

Brinca Dada is responsible for this amazing and cool dollhouse, with it's gorgeous furniture and all. In fact, there are two house models:

Allow me to introduce you Emerson house.

Ain't it cool? Best of all, as any cool dollhouse, it opens up to place furniture and play. Watch:

And now, meet townhouse Bennett.

Now check it out open.

The pendant in the first floor is adorable! ;)
Oh, how I wish I was a little girl! This would definitely be on my list for Santa!

Happy week y'all!

On the spotlight - Menamobel

I'm always in the mood for great design, so I'm thrilled to share with you my latest discovery.  Menamobel is a furniture store in Spain, offering modern solutions to everyday issues in small spaces. Could I ask for more? I don't think so!

A few of the items on their newest catalog:

This would be a cute thing to add to any corner at home.

But you'll fall in love when you learn it's meant to store shoes.

This is a larger, red version.

I really love it, because mirrors are always cool for opening up small spaces, but it can also store 18 pairs of shoes. That's something to die for!

I'm also digging its living room and dining room options.

Hydra coffee table is simple, sleek, trendy.

Open it up to keep away clutter. Superb!

There's a dining room version of the Hydra table, of course.

It grows to adapt for more guests... I need one right now!
(By the way, I could also use that lovely chandelier.)

Then of course, there are options for all kinds of spaces.

Which is your favorite?
By the way, Menamobel is just about to launch its newest website, with more incredible furniture, a wonderful on-line store, and the catalog, so stay tuned.

I'll keep you posted ;)
